About the Authors
Gail Gannon VanHecke lives in Muscatine, Iowa, with her husband, Chuck. Gail and Chuck have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. In 2002, Gail was whisked away from the corporate world, where she worked as a professional and technical recruiter. A cancer diagnosis and a friend’s gift of a journal turned Gail’s attention away from her office day-timer and toward a more introspective kind of note-taking. In her journal, Gail wrote her “positively positive” thoughts, feelings, prayers, and experiences. Gail’s personal account, Cancer: Messages To and From a Survivor, is based on that journal, and on the encouraging messages she received from others during her cancer journey.

Lisa Naeger Shea graduated from the University of Missouri with a B. S. in Education. Her work has appeared in national publications including Faith and Family, The Family Digest, and a variety of inspirational anthologies. Her passion, though, is helping real people share their inspiring stories with others through writing. Lisa resides in St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband and three daughters.
